The 4th China International Poster Biennial (CIPB) will be held in October, 2009 at the West lake of Hangzhou, China. This exhibition of posters chosen from throughout the world is intended to provide a review of the current state of international poster design of the 21st century.

Since 2003, CIPB have been held successfully for three times. It was attended by designers and social groups from all over the world. CIPB worked as an international communication platform in the area of graphic design and design education. At the same time, it improved the progress of international graphic design.

As a high reputation educational organization of art and design, China Academy of Art devoted great efforts to organize the CIPB in the past 6 years. Nowadays, CIPB has been recognized by Ministry of Culture of the People"s Republic of China as an official cultural communicative project, and become an important item of The West Lake EXPO in Hangzhou. As one of the best exhibitions in the field of international design, CIPB gathers the most excellent graphic designers in the world as the jury committee, for enhancing China’s and global poster design to a higher level.

The Master Work Show gathers the excellent new works of graphic design from the jury members of final selection in CIPB 2009. These 5 well-known  graphic designers in the world including Andre Baldinger (France),  Shinnoske Sugisaki(Japan), Andrey Logvin (Russia), Liemburg Harmen (Netherland), Wang Xueqing (China ).They not only present the works but also attend the show and make face-to-face communication with audience.

The Platinum Originality Graphic Design Competition is organized by China Academy of Art, it is a professional design competition for students all over the country. The goal of this competition is enhancing the education and communication in the field of graphic design, and providing students an opportunity to study each other. After 10-year history, The Platinum Originality Graphic Design Competition has become one of the most famous design competitions in China’s design education area.

China International Graphic Design Forum is an academic banquet for graphic design that composed by leading edge graphic designers and scholars from all over the world; it aims at promoting the communication and fusion of system, thinking and outcomes in the field of international graphic design, building the platform of cooperation for graphic design. The expert group of this forum will analyze the situation and results of design field from multiple angles and directions.

In 2007, Vice Prof. Yuan Youmin in China Academy of Art started a research project “The Comparison Research Between Chinese Traditional Books and Western Modern Latin Typography” with Prof. André Baldinger and prof. Philippe Millot from □cole nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris.

In the past 3 years, Chinese and French experts combined and compared comprehensively two mainstreams of book culture in Chinese and Latin Character, including origin, development, handwriting and printing periods, and presented the outcomes in the way of photography, diagram, text, video and article.

As the cooperative project for teaching research combined Chinese and French art colleges, the issue is a review of history, dialogue of reality and consideration of tomorrow.
