The 3rd China International Poster Biennial (CIPB) will be held in October 2007 at West Lake, Hangzhou, China. This exhibition of posters, chosen from around the world, is intended to provide a review of the current state of international poster design. The last two CIPBs have been highly successful, both of which included major international designers. It worked as a communicating platform for international design and education. At the sametime, they improved the progress of graphic international design.

CIPB is held by the China Academy of Art, which is the Educational Member of International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA). CIPB is one of the best international design exhibitions. The jury committee, which is formed of famous graphic designers, is intended to review a higher level of Chinese poster design.

The forum is a grand academic banquet of graphic design, which is made up of famous designers and scholars from home and abroad. The posters are from Uwe Loesch (Germany),Melchior Imboden (Switzerland),Reza Abedini (Iran),Yuan Youmin (China).This show collected the representative works created by four masters in several decades and the masters wiil attend the show to communicate with the audience.

The aim of the exhibition is to resurvey the visual language and the representation manner of Poster Design in a new Era. The exhibition will invite 25 outstanding graphic designers/teams to join over the world. All the works on the exhibition will reflect the author’s exploration and consideration of the future development for Poster Design. This definitely will be a banquet of new visual expression language, as well as an indicator for the future development of Poster Design.

Each of the invited graphic designers will be expected to choice one or two pieces of existing works in order to explain the theme in his/her own unique way. The theme is not limited for participators, as well as the form of creation.

The Exhibition warmly welcomes you and your artwork, which shall bring fresh inspiration and consideration to the graphic design world. This exhibition will be held in October as a special part of “the 3rd China International Poster Biennial (CIPB)”, Art Design Institute of CAA (ADI) will select one of the works for the ADI Achievement Award. The Organizing Committee of CIPB will invite the award winner to join the fourth Biennial as a judge and also hold a personal exhibition for the winner during that time.

The Design School of China Academy of Art

China and Poland Movie Poster Reviewing Exhibition is a collection of fine movie posters which are from China and Poland designed after 1940’s on exhibition. About 100 pieces of fine movie poster which are from Printing making Department of CAA and Rene Wanner’s (a famous Swiss poster collector) personal collection will be exhibited. There are 50 pieces of early Chinese movie poster (during 1940’s and 1950’s) are provided by Painting making Department of CAA. Equally, Poland, as a member of the socialism camp on that time, had created a lot of classic movie posters as well. Although Mr. Rene had a tremendous collection of movie poster, he is still very selective about the works which will be on show. Finally he selects 50 pieces as item on display. Many in the audience can catch the distinct skeleton of the handwriting style of polish movie poster via these works provided by Rene. Some of these works is precious titbit  which is sole exist in the world, and they are without parallel of the greatest academic level.

Quiet a few audiences on the spot will closely perceive the artistic temperament of these old movie posters beyond the works itself. Meanwhile, we can fortunately relish the comment written by Zhu Haoyun (the famous movie poster collector and critic in China), and the comment specially written by Krzysztof Dydo (the famous movie poster collector and critic in Switzerland). And we can profoundly and rationally travel on the train of the movie poster design in eastern and western socialist countries.

Platinum Creativity Graphic Design Student Competition organized by China Academy of Art faces graphic design students all over the country. The purpose of the competition is promoting the education and communication in the field of graphic design, and provides students an opportunity to communicate and study each other. Platinum Creativity Graphic Design Student Competition has become one of the most important design competitions and won a high reputation in the field of design education in China.

In order to offer the students with a wide platfrom to show themselves, this year, the competitition has two additional categories, which are Book Design and Package Design. Meanwhile, the subject of design changed from titled to untitled, which is more flexible and challengeable.
